Tom Weise
Geboren 14. Februar 1967 in Hannover. Studium der Politischen Wissenschaften an der FU Berlin. In den frühen 90ern lebt er in Berlin und Sydney. 1993 HIV+-Diagnose, Reisen, 1994/95 Praktikum bei “The Mac Neil/Lehrer News Hour” in New York City.
Ende 1995 Studienabschluß, Umzug nach New York. Wegen HIV-Status Leben als illegaler Immigrant. 1997 trifft er Jeffrey Davids, mit dem er die Internetseite rentboy.com aufbaut, heute die weltgrößte Männerescort-Seite. Außerdem Teilnahme an Gay Pride Paraden, Organisation von Parties, Mitarbeit bei Betreuung für HIV-positive Kinder, 5 Jahre zwei schwarze Jungen aus Harlem in Pflege.
Leitung einer Gruppe, die Abschiebehäftlinge (illegale Immigranten wie er) in einem Internierungslager am JFK Flughafen besucht. März 1998 erster Hustlaball, eine Party für männliche Prostituierte, Pornostars und deren Fans, die jährlich in Städten wie New York, Las Vegas und schließlich Berlin stattfindet.
Wachsender Konflikt zwischen öffentlichem und privatem Leben, zunehmende Probleme mit Einsamkeit, Gesundheit und Drogen. Er trifft seinen Lebenspartner. 2007 beschließen die beiden, nach Berlin zu gehen. Tom nimmt zum ersten Mal am Hustlaball Berlin teil und überlässt rentboy.com seinem Geschäftspartner.

Keith Richmond
Auch bekannt als Og’e, geboren in Chicago/Illinois in eine liebevollen Militärfamilie. Der kreative Jugendliche besucht die Duke Ellington School of the Arts in Washington, DC mit Schwerpunkt auf Musik und Theater. In New York geht er ans renommierte Fashion Institute of Technology. Dort studierte er Damenmode, Schwerpunkt Couture. Er liebt Extravagantes, Details, Elegantes. Vierzehn Jahre arbeitet er in einer Consulting Firma für den Einzelhandel. Entwirft nebenher Kleidung für Privatkunden und arbeitete mit Pariser Accessoire-Designer.
Derzeit freut er sich auf den Austausch mit europäischen Designern.
Außerdem singt er Rhythm & Blues/Jazz und schreibt seinen eigenen Blog.
Keith lebt mit seinem (eingetragenen) Partner Tom in Berlin.

Frederik Berlin
Geboren 27. Januar 1973 in Augsburg. Vater US-Soldat, Mutter Zivilangestellte der US-Streitkräfte. Die Eltern trennen sich, als er vier ist - er wächst bei seiner Mutter auf.
Ausbildung zum Werbekaufmann in München, Studium der Marketingwirtschaft.

How was Rentboy.com founded? When? Why?
Jeffrey Davids writes: The roots were sewn in 1983 when I was studying for a term at Oxford University in the UK. It was then that I met a fantastic group of gay guys from the generation before mine… I was 17, they were in their 40’s. They were always talking about the rentboys they cavorted with and I became fascinated with the glamorous lives of rentboys and also with the word itself. We had a two year advantage ahead of the British in terms of our adoption of the internet, and I was lucky enough to remember the word and register the domain in one fateful afternoon in 1995.
Back in 1995 there were plenty of opportunities to innovate in terms of delivering new gay services on the internet and bring people together. Getting the name rentboy.com was actually a big motivator, but I thought there was something exciting about working with escorts, and, well; it turns out to be true. I love this business, and I love helping people help themselves and others. It is a wonderfully clean business, and has no oppression factor that plagues the older sexworker business models.

Jeffrey Davids writes: I turned to computer programming while I was a freshman studying philosophy at NYU. I started a somewhat successful computer programming company, which evolved into one of the first companies to concentrate on the nascent internet business in the late 80’s / early 90’s. We got our first T1 in 1992, but I had been on the internet from its inception, and I believed strongly in its power to change everything.
The other important factor was that I started cruising for sex and friends online even before the internet was the media… I saw back in the 80’s the ability to communicate relatively anonymously lead to great environment in which to evaluate a hook up[SVS1]. Here you could safely ask the real questions on your mind, and if you didn’t get the right answers you could just drop it. This was a relatively new communication model but it lends itself well to shopping for companionship, and we put it into motion directly.

What inspired the launch of Rentboy.com?

In the mid-1990s the technology arrived to join the internet to the “oldest profession” and as a gay owned internet company, we were there to make it happen. It was the right business at the right time, moving the escorting industry online and away from street walkers, oppressive agencies and hustler bars. For the first time, escorts could place their own ads online and work for themselves, without interference from bar owners, pimps, or street police.
